About the Event
Intro
High Performance Computing is a technology that uses the power of supercomputers or computer clusters to solve complex problems that require massive computations, thus offering tremendous potential for businesses. More and more innovative companies, in a wide variety of industries, rely on HPC for their R&D (product development, new discoveries, cost savings, etc.).

Program
During this seminar, the staff from the Flemish Supercomputer Center (VSC) will teach you more about HPC and its added value for companies. Lecturers Jan Ooghe and Alexander Vapirev will give participants:
- a comprehensive introduction to HPC
- tools to get started with the infrastructure in your company
- an explanation about how the technology is linked with European initiatives (e.g. HorizonEurope, EuroHPC and LUMI)
- 3 testimonials describing the importance of this computing power for their organisationMichael Coene (ArcelorMittal) will describe the use of HPC for the company's Safe Ladle Pickup safety system Simon Vanmaercke (Mpacts) will explain the various techniques to accellerate calculations with HPC, such as GP-GPU computing Jeroen Boydens (KU Leuven) will elaborate on various innovative research projects for which the university uses the infrastructure
